How we fundraised
In a perfect world, we would be able to adopt a child just by welcoming him or her into our home... but it simply doesn't work that way. Since international adoption is expensive, we attempted to fundraise 15% of our costs. We were able to raise over half that amount with the total reaching close to $6,000. To do so we created an online shop to sell handmade goods, Danielle offered photo shoots for a minimum donation of $50 and friends of ours organised a fun run to raise funds.
We don't promote our online shop as much as we once did, but it's still there! You can check out the selection of handmade belt buckles at www.etsy.com/shop/RedStringProject
We've chosen to leave the fundraising section on our website in the hope it will give other adoptive families a few ideas. When it comes to fundraising, the best thing is to find something you're good at and run with it. No one is good at everything, but everyone is good at something.
