- September 24, 2014 - Officially official! The adoption is finalised.
- March 1, 2014 - We are finally home! Now the REAL adventure begins.
- February 10, 2014 - We begin paperwork to bring our little girl back to Canada
- February 6, 2014 - Our little girl, Cassie, is discharged from the hospital.
- February 3, 2014 - Birth Mom signs documents terminating her parental rights... she's ours!
- February 1, 2014 - We jump on a plane to Florida and meet, for the first time, the little baby girl who could become our daughter. We are in love.
- January 31, 2014 - A baby girl is born
- December 19, 2013 - We get THE CALL.. again! We have been match with a new birth mother for an international adoption.
- September 2013 - Provincial Homestudy approved for the adoption of a child or sibling group under the age of 14.
- August 14, 2013 - We travel to the USA, but birth mother decides to parent the child. We leave the country with heavy hearts and empty arms.
- August 2, 2013 - We get THE CALL! We have been match with a birth mother for an international adoption.
- July 8, 2013 - Our dossier arrives at it's final destination: USA. We are now officially waiting
- June 2013 - International Homestudy approved
- March 2013 - P.R.I.D.E. (Parenting Resources Information Development Education) training
- February 2013 - Switch from an African adoption to a USA adoption. See this blog post to understand why it was best for us to switch.
- January 2013 - Homestudy begins!
- December 12, 2012 - Submit provincial application for home study. Submit application to Canadian Agency and American Agency. Waiting to begin homestudy.
- November 2012 - Accept that our path to parenthood will be quite different than others. After lots of soul searching and research, we decide international adoption is our best bet for a family.
- October 25, 2012 - Decide to give IVF one last chance. Attempt a second round of IVF with the most aggressive protocol available to us. Round cancelled due to poor response. Scream, cry and whine.
- April 2012 - First round of IVF fails. Begin exploring adoption... get completely overwhelmed and discouraged with the process. Complete paperwork for domestic public adoption for special needs children, but wait times are still long. Spend the next 6 months weighing the pros and cons of adoption vs IVF.
- December 2011 - Officially diagnosed with infertility. Chances of conceiving on our own are less than 0.04%.
- June 2011 - We complete paperwork for infant public adoption, but the wait time is bordering on 9 years!
